Reverse Discourse
“Reverse discourse” is what the title says. An inverted discourse. Depersonalised. Offered barefoot. Fragile. Intimate. A performance on body politics in which Ioana Marchidan shortens the collective bodily memory, identifying and bringing to the surface deep-rooted gestures, with the purpose of unraveling and decomposing them through a body slip into an abstract choreography. This cataloging and re-editing of the submission memory, the suppression and repression of the meanings of gestures, integrates the audience as a participant in the dialogue, as a submissive observer.

Goofy
A pointless attempt of understanding when I lost my innocence and how my amorphous body transformed into the known and common creature called a woman.
In Hebrew, the word “Goofy” means ‘My body’. I wanted to explore from my point of view, how can I escape from my own identity, being an unidentified body, and going back to an traumatic experience in which the blelonging of MY body was interrupted by another. I realized that by separating the head from the body, I can create a different creature that has a life, image, posture and movement of its own.

RIFARE BACH
Many years have passed since Roberto Zappalà was confronted with a creation without a strong dramaturgy, usually linked to social matters. In Rifare Bach, (NdT “Remaking Bach”), there is no articulated dramaturgy, nor any intellectualism, only a close relationship between the more ethereal aesthetics of music and the more carnal aesthetics of dance for a journey dense of poetry.
The title ‘Rifare Bach’ (Remaking Bach) also wants to be a reference to the many musical reinterpretations that over time have been made of the works of the German composer. And some of these will be part of the choreographer’s research in the musical composition of the work.

The Blind Narcissist
The Blind Narcissist is a piece created as a duet, which unites the means of contemporary dance, visual arts, video art and spatial art.
It is about the self-destructive love of a man for a narcissist. The relationship in which one partner’s passion is directed to himself inevitably becomes a merciless struggle. For one is the creator and the partner only his creation. “You do not exist without me!”
18 & 19 JUNE (THU & FRI) 2020 – PROGRAM #4 & 5
7:30PM | Kowloon Union Church
Christian and François Ben Aïm (France)
ARISE
Arise is a thoughtful exploration of the notions of loneliness and elevation. The result is a poetic performance of restraint that effectively reveals what is most alive in each of us. It addresses the idea of the sacred in an approach that oscillates between religious and profane.
Fundamentally evolutionary and evolving, the piece resonates intimately with the performance venues, moulding itself on the spaces, whether sacred or unusual.
