YANG HAO | CN/HK
Born in Chongqing, China, Yang enrolled in the Song and Dance Arts School in Beijing, China in 1998. After graduation he joined the Chinese opera and Dance Theatre, and Guangzhou Song and Dance Troupe. From 2005 to 2007, he was a dancer for the Guangdong Modern Dance Company and toured to US and Europe with the company. In 2007 he received a full scholarship from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing arts(APA). After two years study in APA he joined Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Company from 2009-2012,and he has been a teacher for the Ivy Chung Ballet School 2012-1014, also works as an independent dancer and choreographer. He has invited to participate in Dance Exchange program in Seoul International Dance festival Korea Aug-Oct 2013. At the same year yang also invited to performing his new solo Outspoken(working in progress) at Singapore “Contact” Dance Festival and Malaysia d’motion international dance festival. And “Out Spoken” was premiered in 42nd Hong Kong arts festival. Same year his ensemble work “Nothing….But something”was commissioned by Hong Kong dance alliance premiered in Hong Kong at May, and tour to CNDC Angers France. He received funding from danceWEB and Hong Kong Arts Development Council to join Vienna Impulse dance festival 2014.
Yang received a scholarship from HKETO and Yale China Association to residency in Yale University as an arts fellow from Jan-Jun 2015, he presented his most recent solo work”Pied-aterre”(
working in progress) in New Haven International Festival Arts and Ideas(IFAI)2015, and he will keep developing and performing this work in Hong Kong Arts Festival 2016,and come back New Haven IFAI to present a full-length solo work in June 2016.
