PROJECT:

During this residency I will work around the themes of displacement, distance and disconnectedness, looking at these themes through the lenses of physics, psychology and sociology, and drawing parallels between each of them and the art of movement. I will use these fields to seek inspiration and ideas for forming tasks and creating choreographic tools for generating movement material. Therefore, my choreographic research is going to focus on finding balance between highly structured tasks and approaches for/to generating movement material, and free improvisations.

PERFORMANCE: INTERSPACES

Performed by: Talitha Maslin (AUS) and Efrat Galai (ISR)

Creating pathways from A to B, valuing distance.
How far away is a matter of perspective.
Close enough is a moving dot on the horizon, completely displaced from known.
Finding home at different places.
Far can be extremely close, and when close, distances are formed.
Going towards or moving away from? Randomly structured meetings and departures.
Dreams or brutal reality is being very far when you are so close.
How to decide where to go and where to be?
